Webster's Light Bulb Fair

Webster hosts it's own "Light Bulb Fair" each year to showcase innovative research projects created by Challenger students. Students work individually or in small groups to do in depth research in preparation for the Fair. The projects exemplify high quality achievement.

The process begins with an idea, something the student wants to learn more about.
  • The student finds out all he/she can about the chosen topic through a variety of resources.
  • The student studies the information to become an expert on the topic and designs a creative way to communicate the knowledge with others (e.g. an attractive and clever exhibit).
  • The student then develops the final product and writes a bibliography of all resources used.
This process involves the three components necessary for high achievement according to the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM):
  • high ability,
  • task commitment, and
  • creativity.
